A BIT ABOUT US

Wilson's Literary Magazine

Our History

La Fuente Magazine, The Fountain in Spanish, was named for a fountain in Wilson High School's central quad. The fountain was an iconic school landmark; tall and ornate, with fish swimming in the bottom bowl, maintained by students. The first literary and art magazine at Wilson—one of the first high school-run magazines in Southern California—was named after it. The original La Fuente Literary and Art Magazine published creative work by Wilson students and celebrated the school's diverse, talented student body.

A few years after its installation, however, a group of students poisoned the fountain's fish by adding soap to the water. The fountain was removed, and the magazine disbanded not long after. Wilson alumni donated a new fountain to the quad, this time filled with native Californian plants instead of water. This is the fountain that stands in Wilson's quad today.

La Fuente Magazine was not brought back—until now, that is. We learned about the fountain's history through Wilson's Link Crew program and jumped at the opportunity to bring new life to a Wilson tradition. Now, La Fuente is an online magazine that celebrates the artwork and writing of creative Bruins. Our mission is to encourage creativity at Wilson and to provide a platform for students to share their art.
